From One Ship To Another
The latest cruise news for British cruise travellers.
Hey hey shipmates,
I’m just back from a week on NCL’s Norwegian Epic in the Mediterranean. NCL couldn’t be more different from the traditional British lines I usually sail with, so I was really looking forward to the break.
I’ll share my thoughts and videos from this trip over the weeks to come, although I do have one short video already done.
I’m only at home for 24 hours, though! Next up for me is a ten-night Norwegian fjords itinerary back on Fred Olsen. More on all of this below. But first up, my latest full-length video…
Balcony Cabins In Norway
There’s some often-repeated advice you’ll find on YouTube and other places: you must book a balcony cabin in the Norwegian fjords. But is that really true?
While I do understand the reasoning, I don’t necessarily agree with it! In my latest video, I take a look at why you might want to book a balcony cabin on a Norwegian Fjords itinerary, but why you might not always need one. I hope you enjoy!
Fred Olsen Bolette To The Fjords
In just a few days I’ll be boarding Fred Olsen’s Bolette for the third time for this fabulous Norwegian Fjords itinerary.
During this 10-night trip we’ll be enjoying five Norwegian ports and spending four days at sea, meaning I’ll likely be giving four talks. It’ll be a busy one for me but I’m thoroughly looking forward to it.
I’ve been to all five ports (Ålesund, Åndalsnes, Olden, Bergen, Ulvik) multiple times before and with two of the ports being tender operations, this will be a trip where I stay on the ship more than usual, especially as I have a lot of work to catch up on.
I’m planning to edit my videos from my NCL trip, but also produce at least two more: one about Bolette itself, and one on “a day in the life of a cruise ship speaker”. I’m honestly not sure if people are interested in this, but I guess there’s only one way to find out!
Is Norwegian Epic Really So Ugly?
One of the reasons I chose Norwegian Epic for my recent trip was because the ship is so divisive. I wanted to see it for myself. In this short video, you can judge for yourself if it deserves the title of world’s ugliest cruise ship!
Cruising the Mediterranean In Winter
The Mediterranean has long been defined by summer cruising, but as heat and crowds reshape peak-season travel, cruise lines are making a new case for winter. In my latest Forbes article, I take a look at the latest developments and some intriguing winter deployments.
