Hello Aurora!
The latest cruise news for British cruise travellers.
Hey hey, shipmates!
I’m writing to you from Fred Olsen’s Balmoral, just over half-way through what has been a thoroughly enjoyable voyage to Arctic Norway in search of the northern lights. And, well, we succeeded!
I’ve been on board giving talks about Norway, but I’ve spent just as much time helping guests see and photograph the aurora.
If you’re curious about northern lights cruises, I’ll be making a video all about this one on my return. But in the meantime, you can check out this video over on my Life in Norway channel, in which I’ve packed all my best advice on seeing the aurora.
Don’t forget to follow me on Facebook (or Instagram) for the latest updates from this cruise, and the many more to come.
Return of First-Class Cruising
Behind keycard-access doors, cruise lines are creating private lounges and pool decks that feel a world away from the crowds on today’s largest ships. My latest Forbes article reveals how first-class cruising has quietly made a comeback.
Black Friday Cruise Deals
This is a repeat of what I said last week, because we’ve welcomed a lot of new subscribers since then! There are a lot of “Black Friday” deals on cruises right now. On the one hand, that’s great. There will be bargains to be had. But I just want to say, be careful and make sure you understand what you’re buying.
Many cut-price fares offered by cruise lines are the base fares only, and don’t include many things that guests often take for granted such as gratuities, choice of cabin, and so on. You may end up with a noisy cabin at the very front of the ship, which you’ll likely regret should you encounter rough seas!
